Riverbeki Darjeeling Muscatel 100 g - Single-Origin Loose Leaf | Aromatic & Fruity Notes
Muscatel. The word means something specific in Darjeeling — a flavour that appears only in the second flush, only in certain high-elevation gardens, and only when the season cooperates. It is complex to describe: somewhere between dried fruit, stone, and a warmth that is almost floral but not quite. Tea experts have been trying to pin it down for over a century. The best way to understand it is to brew a cup and pay attention.
Riverbeki's Darjeeling Muscatel is a single-origin second flush — loose whole leaf, sourced from a high-elevation Darjeeling garden during the summer harvest. It brews a rich amber cup with the characteristic muscatel note arriving mid-palate and staying through a long, warm finish. The kind of tea that reminds you why Darjeeling has a GI tag and why that tag means something.
In the Cup
- Colour: Deep amber, clear and bright
- Aroma: Complex, aromatic — dried fruit, warm spice, faint floral undertone
- Taste: Full-bodied second flush with the signature muscatel note: fruity, warm, layered
- Finish: Long and dry, with the muscatel lingering well after the sip
- Caffeine: Moderate to high — a cup that earns its alertness
- True Muscatel Character — Not flavoured, not enhanced. The fruity, aromatic quality is entirely natural, produced by the second flush season and the high-elevation growing conditions.
- Single-Origin Darjeeling — Sourced from one garden, one harvest, one season. No blending to average out what makes it interesting.
- Whole Loose Leaf — Full leaves that unfurl completely and release their full character into the cup over multiple steeps.
- GI-Certified Origin — Authentic Darjeeling, not a Darjeeling-style blend from another region.
- No Additives — Everything in this cup comes from the leaf. Nothing else.
How to Brew: 90–95°C, 3 minutes, 2g per 200ml. Best without milk — the muscatel is most clear in a clean cup. Re-steep once.
Available in 100g.
